Board of Directors
Texoma Health Foundation (THF) is governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of community and business leaders committed to improving the quality of life in our four-county service area. The board also includes a permanent voting seat for Reba McEntire, currently held by Cliff Williamson. Each member serves on at least one of five major committees: Audit, Bylaws, Executive, Finance and Grants and Giving. A special thank you to Kent Black, Dr. Angela Latham and Sam Graber who will complete their terms of service the end of 2011. We welcome new members to join THF in January of 2012 including Dr. Joseph Lipscomb, Richard Munson and Phillip Shaffer.
Kay Skelton, Board Chairman
Kay Skelton has lived in Denison for 37 years. She is an active volunteer at her church, as well as supports numerous other community organizations. She is a co-founder of the Denison Education Foundation, a sustaining member of the Denison Service League and a past president of the Grayson County Guidance Clinic. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Abilene Christian University. Skelton’s involvement with healthcare volunteerism began at Texoma Medical Center (TMC) where she served as a hospital volunteer. She was most recently the chair of the THF Grants and Giving Committee, and is a past member of the TMC Development Committee, as well as the TMC Foundation Board.
Dr. Darius Maggi, Vice-Chairman
Dr. Darius Maggi agreed to join the THF Board in September of 2009. Dr. Maggi was originally responsible for encouraging Reba McEntire to help support healthcare services in Texoma and has a long history of nonprofit and philanthropic giving, both in Texoma and internationally. He is the founder of the West Africa Fistula Foundation where he actively serves as a leader in international health volunteerism.
Stefanie Stumpff, Secretary-Treasurer
Stefanie Stumpff attended the University of Oklahoma and obtained degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and has a successful background in Nursing Home Administration and Long Term Care.
Karen Hibbitt-Alford, Grants and Giving Chair
Karen Hibbitt-Alford has lived in Denison more than 40 years. She is a former public and private school teacher and is committed to helping serve churches, children and schools of Denison. In addition to serving on the Denison City Council as mayor pro tem, Hibbitt-Alford has served on numerous boards including the Commission on State Emergency Communications, the Denison Education Foundation, Denison Service League, Denison Performing Arts, Waples United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, Texoma Council for Camp Fire, Business and Industrial Commission of Denison, Grayson County Justice Center Advisory, Texoma Concert Association and the Texoma Medical Center Development Committee and Foundation Board.
Kent Black, Finance Committee Chairman
Kent Black’s career in electronic engineering spanned 35 years and included serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Rockwell. In 1995 Black led the formation of a new joint venture company, United Space Alliance, to serve as the prime contractor and operator of the Space Shuttle for NASA. He was the first CEO of the company and retired in 1997 to his ranch near Pottsboro. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Black has served on various civic and community boards including United Way of Dallas, Boy Scouts of America and as Dallas Chairman of U.S. Savings Bonds. In 2007, he received the inaugural Erik Jonsson School Award for Outstanding Leadership from the Jonsson Engineering School at the University of Texas at Dallas. He currently serves on the Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority and has been chair of the Grayson County Airport board.
Herman Ringler, Immediate Past Chair
Herman Ringler has been at the forefront of the development of THF since inception. He is the first Chairman of THF. His family owned and operated a ladies clothing store on Main Street in Denison for over 60 years before it was sold in 2006. He has a long history of service to Texoma. In addition to THF, he currently serves on the Board of the Crisis Center and the Denison Education Foundation.
Samuel W. Graber
Sam Graber is an attorney practicing primarily estate planning and federal tax law. He graduated from Oklahoma State University before earning a law degree from the University of Tulsa and a Masters of Law degree in taxation from Georgetown University. He is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and is one of only 75 Texas attorneys certified by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State of Texas in both estate planning and probate, and taxation. Graber has served as president of the Grayson County Rehabilitation Center, a state director of the Easter Seals Society and president of the Sherman Boys Club. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Texoma Medical Center, as an advisory member of the Board of Directors of the Grayson County Rehabilitation Center, the Board of Governors of the Oliver Dewey Mayor Foundation and as a Trustee of the Children’s Clinic of Sherman. He and his wife, Jeanie, are members of First United Methodist Church in Sherman.
Angela C. Latham, M.D.
Dr. Angela Latham is a partner in TexomaCare, a group family practice, where she has practiced family medicine since 1996. She is also the chief medical officer of the Greater Texoma Health Clinic, which provides low-cost primary medical care to eligible residents of Grayson County. Dr. Latham earned her medical degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center in Temple and completed her internship and residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. She served as Texoma Medical Center Chief of Staff in 2007 and has served on the Texoma Medical Center Executive Committee and the Credentials Committee. Dr. Latham is a professional member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Latham has donated her time and energy to many community boards and committees.
Horace Groff
Judge Horace Groff, a native of Denison, has been involved in public and community service most of his adult life. Groff has served the people of Grayson County for 41 years, the last 21 as County Judge. His involvement includes religious, civic and fraternal organizations, as well as Texoma Medical Center, Regsenberger Foundation, Loy Park Improvement Association and Habitat for Humanity. Judge Groff supports economic development, improved educational programs, care for the elderly and the creation of opportunities for children and youth.
Cliff Williamson
Cliff Williamson is the Chief Operating Officer of Reba McEntire’s Starstruck Entertainment and Reba’s Business, Inc. Williamson has been with the company for 18 years. In addition to managing Reba, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton, the company includes the Reba Brand of clothing, home goods, luggage and recording studios located at 40 Music Square West in Nashville, Tennessee.
Jim Crittenden
Following a decision to focus on seeking representation on the Board from each of THF’s four counties; Mr. Jim Crittenden agreed to join the Board as a representative of Fannin County. Mr. Crittenden has successful experience in business ownership and finance.
John Carey
THF’s new board member from Durant and Bryan County is John W. Carey. Currently a vice-president with First United Bank and Trust of Durant, Carey is a Grayson County native who was educated at Grayson County College, the University of Texas at Arlington and SOSU. From 2002 until 2010, Carey served in the Oklahoma State Legislature as a representative from Bryan County. He and his wife Pam have three children, Guy Walter, age ten, Anna, age eight, and Emma Claire, age six. Carey is the past chairman of the Bryan County Junior Livestock Committee and serves on both the Crisis Control Board and the Bryan County Pregnancy Board.
Jared Johnson
Jared lives in Denison and has ten years in the healthcare industry. He is currently a director of special projects and durable medical equipment with the Universal Health Services of Texoma, the corporate face of the new Texoma Medical Center. Johnson is a 1999 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. Johnson is the chairman of the board of the Denison Young Professionals Group, and also serves on the boards of the Texoma Area Paratransit System (TAPS) where he is on the executive committee and the Texoma Council of Governments (TCOG). In 2005, Denison voters elected Johnson to the city council for a three-year term, and beginning in May 2007, he served a one-year stint as Mayor Pro-Tem. He was reelected in May 2008.
Margie Morris
Margie is from Sherman and brings her well-honed skills as a writer, publicist, and marketing professional to the THF operation. She is the president of Morris Ink Advertising Agency. She was a Regents’ Scholar at Texas A&M-Commerce and has won the Texas Paragon Award for media and public awareness. She has received awards and recognition from the Texas Press Women’s Association and has served on the Texas Governor’s Volunteer Awards Review Committee, the Texas Council of Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Centers, the Grayson County Citizens Advisory Committee, Sherman Chamber of Commerce and Sherman Parks and Recreation Board. She is currently chairman of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services of Texoma, the Sherman Independent School District Citizen’s Action Committee and SISD Project Excellence PAC.
